چکیده

|The near-far problem can be the capacity limiting factor for a direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) communication systems. The \classical" near-far resistant receivers are multiuser detectors with rather high complexity requirements. In order to reduce the complexity, the class of minimum mean square error (MMSE) receivers was recently proposed. These receivers typically use an adaptive lter to suppress the multiuser interference. The length of the lter is equal to the number of chips per bit. To further reduce the complexity, several methods that shorten the length of the adaptive lter have been developed. In this paper, we present a common mathematical framework in which these receivers can be evaluated in terms of their probability of bit error. The form of the optimum complexity reduction is derived. Two new structures are proposed and are shown to outperform previously proposed receivers.

A class of asymptotically optimum iterated-decision multiuser detectors

A promising class of nonlinear multiuser detectors is introduced for CDMA systems. These “iterated-decision” multiuser detectors use optimized multipass algorithms to successively cancel multipleaccess interference (MAI) from received data and generate symbol decisions whose reliability increases monotonically with each iteration. They significantly outperform decorrelating detectors and linear...

Coding against spreading gain optimisation of nonbinary BCH coded CDMA system

The joint analytical optimisation of the spreading gain and coding gain of nonbinary BCH coded CDMA communication systems is considered in both single-cell and multi-cell scenarios. Furthermore, two types of detectors were employed, namely the minimum mean square error multiuser detector and the classic single-user matched filter detector. It is shown that the optimum coding rate varied over a ...

Optimum and sub-optimum linear MMSE multi-user detection for multi-carrier CDMA transmission systems

This paper investigates optimum and sub-optimum linear Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) Multi-User Detection (MUD) techniques for multi-carrier code division multiple access transmission systems. In a first step, we present two formulations of MMSE MUD techniques that are optimum for any number of users and any power distribution and achieve exactly the same performance with a different computa...

Nonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems

Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

Reduction of Multiple Access Interference in CDMA by using Improved Minimum Mean Square Error Receiver

Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a most promising technique for using channel efficiency. Multiple access interference (MAI) is a limiting factor for the capacity of CDMA system. Proposed design is based on the step by step practical implementation of matched filter (MF) detection and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) detection. Thus, providing flexibility of variations in all parameters...
